Vivian Bernal, m\u00e9dico especialista de la Compa\u00f1\u00eda, resuelve las dudas m\u00e1s frecuentes sobre la hipertensi\u00f3n y los h\u00e1bitos de vida saludables que puede adoptar una persona para evitarla y reducir estas cifras.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u00bfQu\u00e9 es la hipertensi\u00f3n y c\u00f3mo se controla?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cuando el coraz\u00f3n bombea sangre se dirige a trav\u00e9s de arterias, ejerciendo fuerza sobre las paredes de estos vasos y es lo que se conoce como presi\u00f3n arterial. La tensi\u00f3n arterial normal en adultos es de 120\/70 mm Hg. De acuerdo con las nuevas gu\u00edas de la Asociaci\u00f3n Americana del Coraz\u00f3n (AHA) y del Colegio Americano del Coraz\u00f3n cuando las cifras son iguales o superiores a 130\/80mmHg se considera a la persona hipertensa. Se debe tener cuenta que el diagn\u00f3stico no se puede hacer con una sola medici\u00f3n, se debe realizar un monitoreo de presi\u00f3n arterial durante 24 horas continuas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u00bf<\/strong><strong>Cu\u00e1les son los s\u00edntomas de alerta?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La mayor\u00eda de las personas con hipertensi\u00f3n no muestran ning\u00fan s\u00edntoma; en algunas ocasiones, la enfermedad puede producir dolor de cabeza, sensaci\u00f3n de mareo, dolor tor\u00e1cico y hemorragias nasales.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u00bfQui\u00e9nes son m\u00e1s propensos a desarrollar Hipertensi\u00f3n?<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Personas con antecedentes familiares, m\u00e1s que heredar directamente la enfermedad, se transmite una predisposici\u00f3n a desarrollar tensi\u00f3n elevada.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Los hombres tienen m\u00e1s tendencia a desarrollarla en edades tempranas que las mujeres, sin embargo, una vez las mujeres han pasado la etapa de la menopausia el riesgo es igual para ambos sexos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Se considera que despu\u00e9s de los 50 a\u00f1os, los adultos corren mayor riesgo de sufrir de Hipertensi\u00f3n Arterial, esto debido a que con la edad las arterias tienen menor capacidad de distenderse en el momento en que circula la sangre oxigenada.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Entre otros desencadenantes est\u00e1 el desarrollo Obesidad y sobrepeso, Diabetes, Niveles elevado de colesterol, el consumo de alcohol y cigarrillo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u00bfUn ni\u00f1o puede desarrollar Hipertensi\u00f3n?&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>S\u00ed, generalmente la tensi\u00f3n elevada en ni\u00f1os se debe a otras patolog\u00edas como alteraciones renales o endocrinas, por lo tanto, es vital tratar la causa de la hipertensi\u00f3n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u00bfCu\u00e1l es el tratamiento por seguir?&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El objetivo del tratamiento es lograr el control de las cifras tensionales para evitar la lesi\u00f3n de \u00f3rganos.
