Esta iniciativa, liderada por las representantes Alexandra V\u00e1squez y Jennifer Pedraza, fue aprobada por el Congreso el pasado 14 de noviembre de 2024 y proh\u00edbe la uni\u00f3n legal de menores de edad, incluso con el consentimiento de padres o tutores.<\/p>\n<p>La representante Alexandra V\u00e1squez destac\u00f3 el apoyo un\u00e1nime de la C\u00e1mara y el Senado al proyecto, se\u00f1alando que esta medida proteger\u00e1 los derechos de ni\u00f1as, ni\u00f1os y adolescentes. \u201cEstamos a pocos d\u00edas de que el proyecto sea una ley de la Rep\u00fablica\u201d, expres\u00f3, mientras solicit\u00f3 al presidente que act\u00fae con prontitud para firmar la norma.<\/p>\n<p>La pr\u00e1ctica del matrimonio infantil ha sido legal en Colombia por m\u00e1s de un siglo, lo que ha generado preocupaci\u00f3n internacional. Actualmente, solo Colombia y Argentina permiten este tipo de uniones en Am\u00e9rica Latina. Con la sanci\u00f3n presidencial, el pa\u00eds saldr\u00eda definitivamente de esta lista.<\/p>\n<p>Organizaciones sociales y congresistas han instado al presidente Petro a que firme la ley lo antes posible, subrayando el impacto positivo que tendr\u00e1 en la vida de miles de ni\u00f1as y adolescentes vulnerables.<\/p>\n<p>El proyecto, que tambi\u00e9n elimina las uniones tempranas (Miut), marca un avance hist\u00f3rico en la protecci\u00f3n de la ni\u00f1ez en el pa\u00eds.
