Petro calific\u00f3 la acci\u00f3n como un \u00abcrimen de guerra\u00bb y compar\u00f3 el accionar del grupo armado con el de los antiguos paramilitares dirigidos por Salvatore Mancuso.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cLa masacre de campesinos en estado de indefensi\u00f3n es una clara muestra del tr\u00e1nsito del ELN hacia una organizaci\u00f3n narcoarmada\u201d, afirm\u00f3 el mandatario, destacando que el grupo ha abandonado los ideales de su fundador, el sacerdote Camilo Torres Restrepo, para adoptar pr\u00e1cticas asociadas a Pablo Escobar. Seg\u00fan Petro, esta transformaci\u00f3n refleja una p\u00e9rdida de principios en favor de la codicia y la violencia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El presidente asegur\u00f3 que la protecci\u00f3n de los habitantes del Catatumbo recae en el Ej\u00e9rcito Nacional, al que llam\u00f3 a salvaguardar a la poblaci\u00f3n: <strong>\u201c<\/strong>El ELN ha escogido el camino de la guerra y guerra tendr\u00e1. Nosotros, el gobierno, estamos al lado del pueblo. Le corresponde al ej\u00e9rcito actual, el de la Constituci\u00f3n, salvar y proteger al pueblo del Catatumbo de su asesino, el ELN\u201d, expres\u00f3.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Petro envi\u00f3 un mensaje a los integrantes del grupo armado, distinguiendo entre quienes mantienen ideales y quienes se han desviado hacia el narcotr\u00e1fico. \u201cTodo aquel que a\u00fan mantenga su coraz\u00f3n firme al lado del \u2018amor eficaz\u2019 ser\u00e1 escuchado. Quienes hayan dejado que la codicia los domine, ser\u00e1n enfrentados\u201d.
