La decisi\u00f3n se produce tras la recomendaci\u00f3n de la Organizaci\u00f3n Mundial de la Salud (OMS), que en junio aval\u00f3 su aplicaci\u00f3n mediante inyecciones dos veces al a\u00f1o para prevenir nuevos contagios.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El f\u00e1rmaco, desarrollado por el laboratorio Gilead, es considerado un avance hist\u00f3rico que podr\u00eda transformar la respuesta mundial frente al virus. La compa\u00f1\u00eda se\u00f1al\u00f3 que esta innovaci\u00f3n representa una herramienta clave para proteger a las personas en mayor riesgo de contraer VIH.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Las autoridades europeas aprobaron su uso tras analizar los resultados positivos de los ensayos cl\u00ednicos y al catalogarlo como un tratamiento \u201cde gran inter\u00e9s para la salud p\u00fablica\u201d. Esta autorizaci\u00f3n marca un paso decisivo en la lucha contra la enfermedad en un continente que a\u00fan reporta miles de nuevos casos cada a\u00f1o.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El especialista en enfermedades infecciosas Jean-Michel Molina destac\u00f3 la relevancia del medicamento, recordando que en la Uni\u00f3n Europea y el Espacio Econ\u00f3mico Europeo se registran cerca de 25.000 nuevos diagn\u00f3sticos anuales. Subray\u00f3 que las opciones de prevenci\u00f3n actuales no son suficientes, en especial para poblaciones vulnerables, y que el r\u00e9gimen semestral de lenacapavir podr\u00eda ser la alternativa transformadora esperada.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La disponibilidad de este tratamiento abarcar\u00e1 a los 27 Estados miembros de la Uni\u00f3n Europea, adem\u00e1s de Noruega, Islandia y Liechtenstein.
