Ambos se declararon inocentes de los cargos por narcotr\u00e1fico y corrupci\u00f3n que les imputa la justicia de Estados Unidos y esperan una nueva audiencia judicial programada para el <strong>17 de marzo<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Maduro y Flores fueron capturados el <strong>3 de enero<\/strong> durante una <strong>operaci\u00f3n militar estadounidense en Caracas<\/strong>, y trasladados posteriormente a Nueva York. Dos d\u00edas despu\u00e9s comparecieron por primera vez ante un juez federal en Manhattan, donde escucharon la lectura de cargos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Maduro enfrenta <strong>cuatro acusaciones<\/strong>: tres por conspiraci\u00f3n para cometer narcoterrorismo, importar coca\u00edna y poseer armas de alto poder, y una m\u00e1s por <strong>posesi\u00f3n de ametralladoras y artefactos destructivos<\/strong>.<br>Flores, por su parte, responde por <strong>cuatro delitos relacionados<\/strong>: dos de conspiraci\u00f3n para importar coca\u00edna y otros dos por posesi\u00f3n y conspiraci\u00f3n para poseer armas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Las acusaciones forman parte de un <strong>caso abierto en 2020<\/strong>, en el que Estados Unidos se\u00f1alaba a altos funcionarios venezolanos de integrar el llamado <em>C\u00e1rtel de los Soles<\/em>, una organizaci\u00f3n dedicada al narcotr\u00e1fico. No obstante, en la nueva imputaci\u00f3n la Fiscal\u00eda elimin\u00f3 las referencias a ese grupo y ya no presenta a Maduro como su l\u00edder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Situaci\u00f3n legal<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Durante su primera audiencia, Maduro se declar\u00f3 <strong>no culpable<\/strong> y asegur\u00f3 que sigue siendo el presidente leg\u00edtimo de Venezuela. \u201cSoy un prisionero de guerra; he sido secuestrado\u201d, manifest\u00f3 ante el tribunal. Su abogado, <strong>Barry Pollack<\/strong>, no solicit\u00f3 libertad bajo fianza, aunque dej\u00f3 abierta la posibilidad de hacerlo en el futuro. Flores, representada por el abogado <strong>Mark Donnelly<\/strong>, tambi\u00e9n se declar\u00f3 inocente y permanece detenida.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pollack afirm\u00f3 que presentar\u00e1 \u201cnumerosos documentos\u201d para demostrar que su cliente es \u201cjefe de un Estado soberano\u201d y que su captura por parte de militares fue \u201cilegal\u201d. Ambos permanecen recluidos en el penal de Brooklyn, donde han solicitado atenci\u00f3n m\u00e9dica, seg\u00fan consta en los documentos judiciales.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">La defensa y el juez del caso<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>El abogado <strong>Barry Pollack<\/strong>, conocido por representar a <strong>Julian Assange<\/strong>, lidera la defensa de Maduro. Otro jurista, <strong>Bruce Fein<\/strong>, intent\u00f3 sumarse al caso, pero fue descartado tras confirmarse que no hab\u00eda sido contratado por el acusado.<br>El proceso est\u00e1 a cargo del juez <strong>Alvin K. Hellerstein<\/strong>, de 92 a\u00f1os, designado en 1998 por el expresidente Bill Clinton. Hellerstein tiene amplia experiencia en casos de crimen organizado y corrupci\u00f3n internacional, y ya conoc\u00eda el expediente desde la primera acusaci\u00f3n contra Maduro en 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Detenci\u00f3n y condiciones<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Poco se sabe sobre las condiciones en que permanecen Maduro y Flores. El Departamento de Prisiones ha se\u00f1alado que, por razones de seguridad y privacidad, no puede ofrecer detalles sobre los reclusos. El MDC de Brooklyn ha sido denunciado en varias ocasiones por sus condiciones de confinamiento y actualmente alberga a presos de alto perfil, como el rapero <strong>P.
