La atenci\u00f3n de tumores cerebrales de alta complejidad en el sur del pa\u00eds da un paso importante con el fortalecimiento del Programa de Tumores del Sistema Nervioso Central (SNC) de Cl\u00ednica Medilaser, en Neiva. La estrategia permite atender en la regi\u00f3n a pacientes adultos y pedi\u00e1tricos con c\u00e1ncer cerebral que anteriormente deb\u00edan ser remitidos a ciudades como Bogot\u00e1, Cali o Medell\u00edn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

El programa se desarrolla en alianza con el Instituto M\u00e9dico Oncol\u00f3gico (IMO) y tiene como objetivo brindar una atenci\u00f3n integral y oportuna a personas con este tipo de patolog\u00edas, contribuyendo a reducir secuelas neurol\u00f3gicas, discapacidad y los costos emocionales y econ\u00f3micos asociados a los desplazamientos fuera del departamento.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

La iniciativa es liderada por la neurocirujana Silvia Quintero, especialista egresada de la Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, quien destac\u00f3 la importancia de reconocer de manera temprana s\u00edntomas como dolores de cabeza persistentes, dolor lumbar severo, convulsiones, alteraciones del habla o dificultades de movilidad, se\u00f1ales que podr\u00edan estar relacionadas con la presencia de tumores cerebrales.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Seg\u00fan la especialista, muchos pacientes consultan cuando la enfermedad ya se encuentra en etapas avanzadas, lo que dificulta el tratamiento y aumenta el riesgo de da\u00f1os neurol\u00f3gicos permanentes. Por ello, insisti\u00f3 en la necesidad de fortalecer la detecci\u00f3n temprana para mejorar el pron\u00f3stico y la calidad de vida de quienes padecen estas enfermedades.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Actualmente, el programa re\u00fane a m\u00e1s de 14 especialidades m\u00e9dicas, entre ellas neurocirug\u00eda oncol\u00f3gica, neurocirug\u00eda pedi\u00e1trica, hemato-oncolog\u00eda y neurorradiolog\u00eda. Cada caso es analizado en juntas interdisciplinarias que permiten definir tratamientos personalizados de acuerdo con las condiciones y necesidades de cada paciente.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adem\u00e1s de la atenci\u00f3n m\u00e9dica especializada, el modelo incluye acompa\u00f1amiento psicol\u00f3gico, rehabilitaci\u00f3n y apoyo social para pacientes y sus familias. Desde la instituci\u00f3n destacaron que hace cinco a\u00f1os los casos de tumores de base de cr\u00e1neo requer\u00edan remisi\u00f3n fuera del Huila, mientras que hoy menos del 2 % de los pacientes necesita traslado. Con este avance y el uso de tecnolog\u00eda especializada, Medilaser atiende usuarios provenientes de Huila, Caquet\u00e1, Putumayo, Cauca y Tolima, consolid\u00e1ndose como referente regional en el manejo integral del c\u00e1ncer cerebral.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
